It’s the most wonderful time of year again! That’s right, F A L L! And what better way to ring in this magical season than with a list of cozy ideas on how to incorporate Fall fun without living in a northern region?!
I have lived in Florida for the past 5 (going on 6) years now and the shifting colors of the leaves in the cool, crisp Fall air has got to be the #1 thing I miss about living up north. I’m really not one for snowy, icy winters, but when it comes to a brisk autumn breeze that calls for a light jacket, I am all about it!
So to help spread the same excitement to you, I have come up with 7 festive ways to get into those Fall feels.
WEAR THE SEASON’S COLORS
About this time every year, stores start switching out their summer collections and filling their racks with clothes made of deep reds, forest greens, and navy blues.
Now, I know from experience that it’s easier said than done…going into Forever 21 or H&M (or wherever) and seeing the cutest sweaters and jackets on sale and feeling that small piece of you die a bit on the inside because you know it’s still too hot where you live to justify the purchase…
…But you buy the cute clothes anyway, telling yourself that you’ll just have to take a trip somewhere cold at some point soon… #priorities
I can smell them now…Warm Apple Pie, Pumpkin Chai, Nutmeg and Vanilla, Pine, Falling Leaves…
Lighting candles is a great way to set a mood at anytime, but having those signature autumn scents waft through the air this season is a sure-fire way to make your house feel cozy, homey, warm, and inviting to you and your guests. You’ll never want to leave!
SIP ON SOME CIDER & DIG INTO SOME DONUTS
Apple cider and powdered donuts are probably my favorite Fall food combo. There’s just something about this pair that takes me back to happy Fall times growing up.
For this suggestion, I was going to include apple-picking since I know it’s something my family and I used to do when I was growing up in New York, but I’m not sure if it’s a thing in warmer states.
…If you happen to have that opportunity though, then by all means, DO IT! It’s such a fun weekend activity and you’ll have a bunch of apples to use as ingredients for this next suggestion:
BAKE, EAT, SLEEP, REPEAT
You can’t have Fall festivities without baking! I’m talking apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate pie, cherry pie…all the pies! This can easily be a solo activity or something that can be done with friends/family. With the holidays approaching, there can never be enough family bonding, right?
Plus, stuffing your face until your pants no longer fit is crucial to being able to celebrate Fall appropriately;)
PSA: TIME TO GET YOUR PSL
It is now officially acceptable to make that journey to your local Starbucks, channel your inner basic white girl, and order a piping hot Venti Pumpkin Spiced Latte (…who cares if it’s still 95 degrees out, right?) Do this at least once this season, but don’t forget to take an Insta-worthy pic or it won’t count!
Fun Fact: This was a picture of my VERY FIRST PSL EVER last year…and yes, this made it on the -gram.
DECORATE YOUR PLACE
Nothing says “Fall” like making your home look like Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin threw up in it. We all know your Amazon wish list is begging to be filled with Fall-themed wreaths and throw pillows. While you’re at it, you should go out buy a bunch of pumpkins. Make sure to carve a couple!
NETFLIX & CHILL
And by “Netflix & Chill,” I mean pop you thermostat on to a cool setting, grab a bunch of blankets, snuggle up with your honey, sip on some hot cocoa, and binge some classics. No Netflix? Old fashioned DVDs work too!
If you can’t decide on what to watch, I got you–> watch Harry Potter.
Hopefully this post has sparked some more Fall excitement in you and now you’re more ready than ever to get cracking on the celebrations!
Until next time…
